AMD Ryzen’s Release Draws Near!

by | Jan 22, 2020 | News

If you’re not already aware, the media, the internet, and even your next door neighbor have been getting riled up and antsy over the soon to be released, AMD Ryzen. However, what exactly makes this new processor so spectacular that it has every person ready to commit crimes to obtain it? The answer is probably because it would simply be worth it (But please don’t. Player 1 Customs does not encourage violence. Only game violence is acceptable.).

Ryzen Details

AMD’s Ryzen is set and scheduled to be available on the shelves on March 2nd. There will be 3 main product families to choose from: Ryzen R3, R5, and R7 (similar concept to Intel’s i-series). Within these families, there will also be several models to choose from depending on what you intend to use your computer for at different costs. Although new information is being released until its date of release, it has been confirmed that the following models will be available at launch:

Product Line Model Base Clock (GHz) Boost Clock (GHz) TDP (Watts) Included Cooler Suggested Price
Ryzen 7 1800x 3.6 4.0 95 N/A $499
Ryzen 7 1700x 3.4 3.8 95 N/A $399
Ryzen 7 1700 3.0 3.7 65 Wraith Spire $329

So What Is The Big Deal?

Although AMD has a reputation of being the cool guys on the block and they make their products pretty much affordable for anyone, the Ryzen processor does sacrifice price for performance. In fact, it does the exact opposite! For example, while Intel’s i7-6900k is valued at a little over $1000, AMD’s 1800x is valued at half the cost and it is still able to perform about 10% faster than the i7. Is that still not enough to impress you? Good because although Ryzen was able to smoke the i7 in various benchmarks, it still had its boost option disabled whereas the i7’s Turbo Boost was enabled. The Ryzen still holds much more potential where we can safely say any Player 1 would die to have!

It goes without saying that AMD has brought something truly amazing to the market. There are many more exciting products coming soon over the next couple of months, such as AMD’s Raven Ridge (Laptops with Ryzen processors). This also being the first generation CPU means there will only be improvements and performance increases. We cannot wait to see what ground breaking technology will appear with these new developments from AMD or perhaps even a competitor that aims for the spotlight. Only time will tell.
